I know, I know. This is coming so late, why bother writing at all? Well, at least this is my own personal thought, not someone else or written by AI (a true quality that is hard to find in these days). So please don’t be too harsh on my grammars, typos, and such. Please be nice, humans are not perfect 🙏
I remember back in 2022 was my first time of using ChatGPT for academic purposes. The release of ChatGPT was such a big fuss and people have been using for various tasks, and for me it was just seeking answers for my homework. The answers given were never perfect or 100% correct. I mostly used it for reference, and take it with a grain of salt. As time goes by, ChatGPT is advancing and getting better than ever but it still makes mistakes though (some are pretty silly, and I am not just talking about ChatGPT only, Gemini, Grok, Deepseek, etc. all have been there) . So I still advice people don’t fully believe in the things that AI tools wrote, it might help you gather your thoughts but if you don’t think and do your research on your own, then you are in big trouble.
Should you be worried about AI taking our jobs? My take is, it will eventually but until that time comes, there might be other type of work emerged (ex: supervising AI, training AI, controlling AI, etc.). Who knows what the future will be. What you can do now is to keep learning and keep your skill sets sharp. If you start feeling the crisis, that is a good thing. Be prepared for what’s the worst to come, embrace what’s fallen onto you. Survivability and adaptability might be the most important criteria to drift along and survive in this technology advancement revolution.
Should you continue learning in the old hard way (ex: textbook, research paper, google search), or fully adapt AI (ex: ask AI to clarify and explain in layman’s terms)? I don’t see a problem asking AI as long as you can grasp the content and fully understand concepts that are hard to comprehend. I am still trying to find a balance whether I should read books or just use AI to help me learn and understand the content.
One last thing, how do I learn AI and what can I do with AI? This is also a question that I asked myself many times. What exactly is AI and how I can truly benefit from learning AI. What we see on the market right now are bunch of things that people created using AI or the so-called AI services they provided. In the end, AI is just a tool for creating something in a simpler and quicker way. For example, we see people use AI for creating summaries, generating images or videos, building websites, creating small programs, writing code, helping you learn stuff, etc. AI does not create something that is exceptional, something that is far beyond what a human can do. Oh just to clarify, the AI that I am referring here is mostly the generative AI (like the ChatGPT), not like the fully self-driving vehicles or biotech stuff and such.
Anyway, this is just my 2 cents about AI. I know I might be late in this AI era, but late is better than never, no? I am aiming to contribute more human-written post starting now. I am not sure AI-written post has any use, or should I even bother to post? Well, I don’t know. Let’s see how it goes.
